On the 4th Day of Merrymas

On the fourth day of #12DaysofMerrymas we recognize…

Marissa Hernandez

Cartwright School District

She was nominated for her positive influence on schools in #Maryvale. Here are a few things she cares about:

Marissa is president of the Cartwright School District governing board and has served on the board since 2015.

She championed the opening of the Cartwright Community Garden with Food Services Department, Phoenix fire and police, and is advocating for a skate park near the garden.

She is spearheading the district’s first 5K run in 2020.

She advocates for healthy eating alternatives at schools.

She pushes for safety protocols in the district and has enhanced security at schools.

She rolls up her sleeves to paint and decorate the schools each year.

On top of her community-based agenda, Marissa is a mother of three and volunteers twice a week working with autistic and special needs children.

Thank you for being a #MaryvaleHERO, Marissa!

Our favorite season is finally here!

During the #12DaysofMerrymas, help celebrate Maryvale #HEROs who embody the spirit of the holiday season all year long! Each day from December 14 to December 25 Maryvale Revitalization Corporation will highlight an individual or group that was nominated for consistently going above and beyond to serve others in the #Maryvale community. These folks share kindness and joy in restaurants, schools, hospitals, community centers, and more, to make the entire village special. Please follow along each day to see who from your community is making a huge impact.
